Meet Mary Clare

Mary came up with the Inner Elder idea 35 years ago and shared it with her graduate students. In the development of Full Ecology, she and Gary recognized the vital lessons available to us by observing and listening to Elderhood in the natural world. Because of this work, Mary was recently recognized and admitted into the Society – a group of 40+ professionals who have given significant attention to matters of positive aging – from tech interfaces with older people, to medicine, to living circumstances, to exercise, nutrition, mental health, and spiritual development. Many of the members of the Society also engage in intergenerational projects supporting climate repair and social justice.

Alongside researching and writing her book, Dare to be Old – Meeting Your Inner Elder No Matter Your Age, Mary is developing intergenerational groups for discerning together how participants can tap into their Inner Elders to most wisely nurture themselves, their families and communities with a deep sense of interdependence, spiritual vision and integrity.
